What Is SEO? How Does It Work?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It is significant for any online business or website to flourish. It is a process that helps increase the chances of a website’s visibility when users search for related terms.
There are millions of registered websites all over the internet. Search engines use software called ‘spiders’ and ‘robots’ (bots) to ‘crawl’ web pages and collect information from them. All of this is stored in an index.
The index is analyzed by algorithms that implement various ranking factors to display results.
What’s An AI Writing Tool?
AI writing tool is a program powered by artificial intelligence to generate text. These software programs scan the internet or individual databases for keywords provided by the user and create content.
AI Writing Tools Don’t Support SEO
1. Quality and Plagiarism
AI cannot guarantee correct grammar and punctuation. Although there are grammar tools available, they don’t always detect incorrect grammar rendering them useless.
AI writing software depends on pre-existing data. Everything is a rephrased idea. To market a product or service, you should distinguish your brand. But AI-generated content has a high probability of having brand-specific phrases, copied sentences, and even full paragraphs from other sources.
If such a write-up is published without permission from the original creator, it is plagiarism.
If that isn’t an issue in itself, search engines can differentiate identical content from the original by tracking keywords and engagement. Duplicate content has less credibility. Software developed for AI content detection can easily filter and flag such content.
2. Lack of Creativity and Originality
Although these writing programs can be fed data and trained to appear more humanistic, these systems can’t generate ideas that are fresh and unique.
Humans can be creative, incorporate different analogies and integrate unique experiences in their writing. Human writers have the benefit of independent thought. This gives us a significant advantage over artificial intelligence. Your SEO strategy should include organic human written content and placement in the right place. The search engines are checking everything and can tell if it’s artificial at this point.
While writers’ ideas are backed up by significant research and proof, AI writing tools don’t necessarily have that characteristic. AI-written content is also barely fact-checked.
Creativity and originality in a write-up are just as important for visibility and good quality audience as the more technical aspect of SEO.
3. Outdated Technique
Even if the software is designed for SEO, it does more damage than good.
Nowadays, bigger search engines can predict AI-written content. Google, the most widely used search engine, has denounced AI-generated writing.
AI uses a technique known as keyword stuffing. It is a method that ‘stuffs’ a large number of keywords into a webpage and meta tags to make it more visible to users.
While this would have worked a decade or two ago, with today’s technology, it classifies the site as spam because of the repetitive usage of a word. Unoriginal or spam content is less likely to show up higher in the search results.
4. Unorganized Writing and Unnatural Tone
As human writers, we have a steady system for our work. Depending on the topic, actual professional writers will be able to deliver quality content of high standards.
AI-written content, on the other hand, lacks organization and consistency. AI writing tools cannot distribute ideas and terms under the appropriate topics as effectively as people can.
The lack of proper headlines and organization will be a disadvantage for the website as it won’t contain proper search terms.
AI-written content also tends to sound robotic and stoic. Even if a website appears on the search result page, bad-quality writing will drive people away. This defeats the purpose of SEO.
Technology surely moves at a rapid speed. What took hours or even days earlier. takes mere seconds now.
AI writing tools provide fast results but are they perfect? Not quite.
It’s better to use AI content-creating tools for assistance rather than using them for the main job itself.
Maybe an AI-generated draft can give you the little push you need to work by yourself. But, depending on only the AI-written content entirely is more harmful than practical.
