The “Sell Me This Pen” interview project started as more of a fun exercise (riddle) that initially began when I met with my director of sales last year, and during our discussion around sales rep training, I happened to mention the Wolf of Wall Street sales riddle.
Subsequent to that initial meeting, I figured I would tackle the riddle myself, and penned the following blog: Sell Me This Pen. I Tackle the Wolf of Wall Street Sales Riddle. For whatever reason, and I’m not sure how the search engines work, I received many many thousands of hits to the initial blog post, and as a result, I also received at least a dozen emails from sales reps asking me questions and privately commenting to me about their opinion on how to sell the pen, and provided their own interpretation on the sell me this pen answer.
The Art of Sales
Yes, sales is an art, and that’s why I started this exercise in the first place.
The next step started as more of a fun project. I decided to casually test a number of both sales reps, and non-sales reps, to ask them to also sell me this pen.
