7 Tips to Ecommerce Optimization

We are currently facing eCommerce businesses all over the place. Electronic business is our new reality.

Every organization in the modern world not only tries to have its business card on the Internet in the form of a corporate website but also strives to carry out its interaction with the client in the webspace.

In this regard, not only online stores are developing, but also other business support systems. Along with online stores, there are mobile applications.

Companies use CMS and CRM systems to process customer orders, where the entire history of customer interaction is saved and the data is suitable for analysis.

The CRM system records all interactions with the client, builds a path from the beginning of the interaction to the conclusion of the deal, and builds analytical reports for planning income and expenses.

Large companies use BI systems to generate reports. Companies often have situations when systems have been implemented, but the planned result has not been achieved.

Therefore, today we will talk about how to optimize eCommerce.

Increase Your Website Speed and Usabilities

Test your site not only for speed but also for usability. Using manual software testing services allows you to check how convenient the site is for the user and how easy it is for him to find this or that information. The main purposes of testing:

  • Determine if your site is understandable to the user, whether it is user-friendly.
  • Understand how convenient navigation is.
  • Find out what impression the user has.
  • Evaluate what may be superfluous on the resource.

Online shoppers are not looking forward to it very much. Perhaps this is because they know that there are several other websites that they can check when one of them fails to load or does not work as expected.

Check out Render Start Time (RST). RST is the time it takes for a website to display its first page or content. When the RST is longer than usual, it is annoying and you cannot expect your customers to wait.

If you don’t already know, Google also takes site speed into account when ranking sites.

To check the speed of your site, you can use Google Checker. It is recommended that websites load in less than two seconds.

Otherwise, visitors will leave the page. What you can do to increase your download speed:

  • Reduce the data size of your files.
  • Get a faster web hosting plan if you can afford it.
  • Reduce the number of plugins.

Optimize Your Homepage

The front page of your online store is designed to attract the most traffic, so you should try to optimize your homepage first.

It will be very good if you identify the most popular categories of your business on the home page and highlight the main advantages of your company among others. This way, the pages people are looking for the most are quickly discovered.

In addition, by linking from the first page to the most important pages, you transport the link to the first page to the rest of the search results being pulled up.

Of course, the title and content on the first page should use relevant search or key terms.

Work for Your Audience

It is extremely important to know who you are working for, who your audience is. Otherwise, you have no chance of being successful in your business.

When it comes to any business, not just eCommerce, you always create something for a specific group of people, no matter what industry you work in.

Therefore, it is extremely important not to overlook the interests and preferences of your potential clients.

Stay On Top of Google Algorithms

There is one more thing you need to be aware of, which is Google’s algorithm. Google’s algorithm is a complex and unique system that Google uses to extract data from its search index.

This will help provide the best possible answers or results for an online query.

Updates to Google Algorithm happen thousands of times a year, with some changes that are too small to be noticed by SEOs and webmasters.

These changes and updates could harm or help your eCommerce website, so you should always be aware when something is happening.

Google strives to provide the best possible answers whenever an internet user searches for something on the Internet, so they are very keen to update and change their algorithms from time to time.

To track and track Google updates in their algorithms, you can customize Google alerts based on quality, source, phrase, frequency, and topic.

Optimize Product Pages

Promotion of product pages of an online store includes several stages.

  1. Work on a meaningful description should not exceed 1000 words for each product. Its size, function, and colors are worth mentioning, providing customer reviews and answering frequently asked questions.
  2. Pages are out of stock. Even if a 404 page doesn’t annoy visitors, search engines still don’t like broken links. Therefore, leave the page as is, indicating that the item is out of stock. You can mention other similar products and set up an email notification when an item goes on sale.
  3.  Excerpts. Use relevant information: stock availability, reviews, ratings, store addresses, and more.
  4. Insert links to related products. Some products have a common theme and it is best to link to them. Use simple, straightforward URLs that both people and search engines will read. Avoid numbers, rare symbols, and meaningless letter combinations.

Blog for eCommerce

If you’ve read blogs, then you’ve probably noticed that people often take full advantage of writing.

And they do this because a blog is the surest way to get more traffic on the site. Moreover, thanks to a blog, people will recognize your business and product.

In the case of eCommerce, you can produce product comparisons, in-depth reviews, or something more impressive, fun content that people are inspired to share on social media and that could collect links.

Choosing a Reporting Automation Tool

For a long time, to solve these problems, we, like many, used the well-known Microsoft Excel. But over time, we faced the fact that Excel offers limited capabilities.

We needed a new tool that would allow us to bring together spending and eCommerce data in one place and display statistics in the right sections.

We studied the technologies that are on the market and made our own shortlist:

  • Google DataStudio;
  • Tableau;
  • Microsoft Power BI;
  • PeriscopeData.

Our choice was based on the cost of these programs, ease of working with data and importing them, ease of use, and user-friendly interface, as well as representativeness.

By following all of the above tips, you will begin to improve your eCommerce business.

This should go a long way towards increasing traffic, engagement, and sales, which is ultimately what every owner wants.
