Here’s Why Every Startup Needs to Hit the Market Hard and Heavy

Preparing to launch a startup is every entrepreneur’s dream but it can also be every entrepreneur’s nightmare at the very same time.

There is so much to do and not enough hands to get it all done with. Then there’s the money factor which no one wants to address either.

There always seems to be some sort of hesitance when it comes to investing in a startup and if you are like so many entrepreneurs, you still have to learn the line between personal finances and funds for your new business.

Having said that, it is important to know that there are some things you can let slide, but when it comes to marketing, it would be a grave mistake not to hit the market hard and heavy. Here’s why.

Choosing Between SEM and SEO Made Easy

While you know you need to invest in some sort of marketing prior to launching, the question always seems to be making a choice between SEM (Search Engine Marketing) and SEO (Search Engine Optimization).

You are probably wondering should you invest in an SEM or SEO strategy? Actually, in the very beginning you ‘could’ hit the digital market with both strategies, but if funds are limited during this time, then SEO would be the way to go – at least initially.

The Cost/Investment Factor

Although both strategies use keywords that they believe consumers are searching for, SEO is organic and there is no need to ‘bid’ for use of those words. You simply incorporate them into your copy, whatever media that should be.

From videos to blogs and basic web content on your site, you have free rein to use those words strategically and often with backlinks to your product pages.

In other words, unless you are paying a content writer to write that copy, there is no cost involved in organic Search Engine Optimization.

Use SEO to hit the market hard and heavy in the days and weeks just prior to your official digital grand opening.

Don’t Forget Your Mobile Audience!

If there is one more bit of advice you can be given when preparing to launch your startup, it is important to remember that most consumers will now search for new brands or products via a mobile device.

This means that your website must be responsive so that it can be viewed on that small smartphone screen or the Google gods will banish you to earth. If you want to reign in cyberspace, you need to be a very real presence there.

This means that from the very beginning you should choose a theme for your homepage that is responsive.

Bear in mind that a responsive site can easily be viewed on a PC, but a non-responsive website cannot be viewed well on a mobile device.

Conclusion

As a final thought, it should be said that if the funds are there, don’t discount just how effective SEM can be when entering a new market. Many startups pick up the pace with SEO and then use the amazing results to procure startup capital for that hard and heavy SEM strategy.
