Your office design does not only reflect on your brand image but can also impact the mood of your employees. Presenting an appealing image will give a positive impression of your business. In addition, you want a space that will boost the effectiveness of your team.

Gone are the days when offices were dull. Different brands are enhancing their spaces by incorporating a wide range of design tips. Here are ideas for a functional and modern office design that will speak highly of your brand.

1. Have adequate windows and window treatments

The office does not need to be enclosed and dark. Illuminating your space will not only protect your employees from visual issues but can also increase their productivity. They will see their screens, documents, and the office floor better, and natural light will make them more energetic and happier. For lots of natural light in a functional and modern package, look for light filtering roller shades.

2. Use glass office partitions

Solid wall partitions usually make the rooms appear smaller. Glass partitions bring about a modern look and create an illusion of space. With glass partitions, you will also maximize natural lighting, which can save you some utility costs.

They come in a wide range of shapes, styles, and qualities. For example, you can choose clear or frosted glass partitions for privacy. You can also select glass screens that blend with your corporate colors.

3. Invest in good quality furniture

Purchase good quality office furniture that is also appealing. With quality furniture, you won’t have to do replacements from time to time; this can be good for your budget.

Comfortable furniture will also boost your employee productivity. On the other hand, you do not want furniture that is worn out as it will send the wrong message regarding your image. However, the furniture does not need to be too expensive; as long as it is functional and of decent quality, it is good to go.

4. Add mood-boosting elements and personalize the space

Introducing plants to your office space is a creative and healthy way to boost the mood within. There are tons of beautiful indoor plants like the snake plant and other succulents. They can make your office calmer and more welcoming.

Replacing the old and peeling paint on your walls with a warm fresh coat of paint can also be a great mood booster. There is also a wide range of wallpaper designs that you can install on the walls opposite your desk. This can create an interesting focal point for you to gaze on if you want to momentarily take your mind off work.

You can also add a rug at the center of the room to add personality to the space and make it warm and relaxing. You can also add sentimental items like a picture of you or any item that will make you feel motivated.

If your team does not have allergies, you can also consider adding essential oils to the space for aromatherapy.

5. Reduce clutter

Reduce the mess in the office to create more space. Proper organization of the office will go a long way. Provide dedicated spaces for shelves and storage, and ensure the organization of chairs and desks create an open space design. A decluttered office will help your team achieve effective workflow.

6. Create a meeting space

When setting up a home office, professionals sometimes forget they might need to meet clients or colleagues. While there is the option of hosting virtual meetings on platforms like Microsoft Teams, a physical meeting may be necessary.

Setting up a small meeting area is therefore vital. Depending on the space and resources available, it could be anything from having two chairs and a small coffee table to a sofa. If you have generous space in your house, like having an unoccupied guestroom, you can convert it into a boardroom.

You could add a water dispenser in the space or even a coffee maker for entertaining your clients or corporate guests. Also, ensure office supplies such as notebooks, pens, file folders, and business cards are also within reach.

7. Go wireless

You don’t want your office space to look cluttered and confused. Therefore, consider ways you can tame your technology and have fewer cords and cables running across the room.

For instance, instead of using a LAN cable for internet connectivity, have a wireless router, and you will reduce the number of wires in your space greatly. Likewise, if you use a mouse, get the wireless option to reduce clutter on your desk and enhance productivity.

If you want to have a printer in your home office, you can also buy a wireless one. Getting an office desk with a grommet will also help you keep the wires organized. You can also hire a professional to install a cord tamer for you to keep the wires together.

Wires make a room look cluttered and dwindle your productivity. The cables are also a hazard and can cause falls. Sometimes, they can also get disconnected and disrupt your work.

8. Allow yourself a view

Does your business premises office offer you a well-manicured landscape view? Well, you can bring the same to your home office too. Everyone loves an office with a view, and if you have an opportunity to create one, run with it.

Gazing out of your workspace even without necessarily stepping out of the office can be healthy. The views will also be a great way to spend your brief breaks and declutter your mind as you work. It can also help reduce tension and stress on a busy workday.

That is why you need to pick the right room for your office. A room with a window allowing natural light through is okay. If you have a lawn, a room with windows facing it would be the perfect spot for an office.

You are not limited when it comes to views. If your room does not have windows, all you have to do is create a focal point. For example, you could paint the wall facing your desk with a color you love. You can also install decorative wallpaper. Alternatively, you can add exciting wall art that you can enjoy facing up and glancing at.

9. Create a mailing system

As much as most communication has gone digital, the traditional mailing system is still relevant. Creating a mailing station in your home office will help you stay organized and keep track of your commitments.

A floating shelf at the entrance of your home office is an example of an ideal location for it. You can have one for incoming mails and another for outgoing mails. You can also group them in terms of the recipients or even order of priority.

A nice floating shelf could also contribute to the aesthetics of your office.

Conclusion

Businesses have embraced interior design as it benefits not only their image but their employees too.

Increasing windows, installing glass partitions, purchasing good quality furniture, and creating more space are some of the simple ways to enhance your office environment.
