Forms4Parents

One of the inevitable challenges of running a business is the amount of time you have to spend actually running the business.

When I was in the earlier stages of building my business, I was OK to spend sometimes 70, 80, and even 90 hours a week running and growing my business.

I was fine with the amount of work, until …

Until I became a parent.

Once I became a parent, first to my son, then to my daughter, my two children, my world was turned upside down.

Being a parent of kids, children is sometimes described as being the hardest job in the world.

But wait …

Running a business, dealing with all of the minutiae, the forms, paperwork, staff issues, is an even more complex job.

So how does the typical parent, and business owner, deal with the forms along with parenting?

I use the word “form” as a figure of speech.

Why?

Business is about so much more than forms, of course, just as being a parent is about more then changing diapers and dealing with screaming children.

Forms could mean:
– sales forms:
– sales form quotes,
– staff review forms
– government forms
– accounting forms
– cash flow forms
– forms 4 parents (forms for parents) – explained in further detail below

But, as a figure of speech, forms could also mean dealing with customers, suppliers, bankers, and all of the other people that are required to grow a company.

When you don’t have an understanding of the forms, or of the form and complexity of being in business, your business suffers, just as your parenting suffers when you’re not knowledgeable about being a parent.

Your business becomes disabled if you will, and you end up dealing with a business with disabilities. What does it mean when your business becomes disabled?

No, it’s not the same thing as a disabled child or a child with disabilities. t’s not the same as a child with physical disabilities or mental disabilities.

When your business is disabled, it means your business suffers. It doesn’t grow.

So get with the program. Accept the hours, the hard work, the passion that’s required to grow a business, the forms4parents, the forms in general.

Before we go, let me provide additional context around some of the forms I described above:

Definitions of forms could mean:
– sales forms: These are the forms that a salesperson needs to fill-out when dealing with the sales manager
– sales form quotes: when you quote a customer, you fill out a sales form
– staff review forms: it’s staff review time. You can use this matrix to deal with your staff
– government forms: bureaucracy is the enemy of the small business owner. You’ve got to pay your taxes, real estate, and payroll taxes.
– accounting forms: this could include things like accounts receivable, payable, and so on
– cash flow forms: this is what you use when keeping track of your business’s cash flow
– forms4parents – forms for parents: This is the figurative form that a parent needs when they’re in business. The parent needs to be in good form!
